Why should Casey be considered guilty?

Casey Anthony should be considered a murderer in the eyes of the law because there was enough evidence presented in the trial against her proving she in fact did murder her daughter, Caylee.  Although the jury did not find Casey guilty of murdering Caylee, there was more than enough evidence for a guilty verdict. For instance, the countless lies told to the police during the investigation, her internet searches of chloroform, and Casey's neglect to look for her missing child for 31 days all point to her guilt. My topic should be supported by everyone due to the fact that anyone's neighbor could be abusing, murdering or plotting to do these things to his or her child. The public should be more aware of the fact everything is not always as it may seem, and this could happen to anyone.  Not only the public should pay attention and have their eyes open, but they should be more aware of the consequences of letting a guilty person go free—this may encourage others to believe that like Casey, they can get away with murder.

As the police investigated the case of a missing three year old, Caylee Anthony, her mother would not cooperate. Casey Anthony continuously was untruthful to the policemen, investigators working the case, and her grieving family members. Some of her lies consisted of her father molesting Casey as a young girl, Caylee having a nanny named “Zanny”, and Casey working for Orlando Studios in Orlando, Florida. One of the biggest lies told to the police was told to a 911 dispatcher during a call on July 15th, 2008. According to Presumed Guilty:  Casey Anthony: The inside Story, “… the name of the baby sitter who took her baby was Zenaida Fernandez- Gonzalez” (Baez and Golenbock 10). Casey then continued to draw out the lie out by saying, “She’s been my nanny for about a year and a half, almost two years” (qtd in Baez and Gollenbock 10).  Investigators believed they had their kidnapper and hopefully were to find three year old Caylee. Investigators thought wrong.  “Zanny the nanny” was an imaginary lady. Casey’s lies were complex if not well thought out.  She told the policemen Zanny lived in an apartment complex in Sawgrass.

Later, the police found that the apartment was across from one of Casey’s former boyfriends, and belonged to her best friend’s current boyfriend. Anthony  stated she came home from working at Orlando Studios, went to Zanny’s, and waited for Caylee or Zanny to come to the door. Casey then left the apartment complex distraught over not knowing the whereabouts of Caylee, and went to party with her boyfriend.

That was not the only lie Anthony told police in order to look innocent. During the months of Casey’s trial for the murder of Caylee, Casey stated her father, George, was molesting her. This unfounded accusation lacked any support,  and further harmed her family who were already grieving for their dead grandchild and niece. Although Anthony wanted the court to believe she was “mentally unstable,” and that this history of abuse had caused her to learn to lie to hide the horrible truth,  there was never any evidence to prove George Anthony had ever touched her. The judge ruled her as capable of trial because this abuse had never been reported until it was time for her to stand trial.  The numerous and complex lies told by Casey Anthony all point to her desire to cover up her guilt for murdering her own child.

In addition, during the months of Casey Anthony’s  trial for the murder of Caylee Marie Anthony, an immense amount of evidence was brought into view. According to the National Museum of Crime and Punishment, there were seven counts of evidence that were used in trial. The first and most substantial piece of evidence was the smell of human decomposition in the trunk of Casey’s vehicle during the days that Caylee had been reported missing. George Anthony, Casey’s father, stated in the book Presumed Guilty:  Casey Anthony: The inside Story “I know what that smell is, and I don’t want to think about it” (Baez and Gollenbock 3). George Anthony was a former police officer, and the smell of death was not uncommon in his work. The smell was also noted by Cindy Anthony (Casey’s mother) in her call to 911.

The next indication that there had been a body in Casey’s trunk was the insect activity. In the article written by Warren Richey of The Christian Science Monitor,  “Casey Anthony Murder Trial Focuses on 'Trash' Versus 'Garbage,’” Dr. Haskell, a forensic entomologist explains more of the reasoning for the bug activity. Dr. Haskell states there were three different types of insects found in the truck with the reeking smell of decomposition: Megaselia scalaris, Diptera, and Phoridae. These bugs feed on the decay of human bodies; however,  they also feed on garbage as well. The insects, along with the horrifying smell all point to the body of Caylee Anthony being driven around in the trunk of Casey Anthony’s car.  If Casey were not the murderer, why would she have the body and not report it?

Last but not least, Casey Anthony’s laptop, after being investigated, provided more evidence which strongly points to her as the murderer. On Anthony’s laptop were searches for “Chloroform” and “How to make Chloroform”. Prosecutors alleged that Casey used this drug to murder Caylee.  Then, she covered her in duct tape and left her remains in a garbage back in the trunk of her car to rot. Warren Richey’s article “Casey Anthony Trial: Internet Searches for 'Chloroform' Take Center Stage,” paragraph two states, “The Internet search is also important to the prosecution’s case because the searches were conducted in March 2008, roughly three months before Caylee went missing. Prosecutors will cite the chloroform search as evidence that Caylee’s death was premeditated.”  This shows that not only did the chloroform search give more substantial insight into the cause of  Caylee’s death, but also that anyone with access to that computer, including Casey, could have murdered Caylee. The circumstantial evidence pointing to the use of chloroform proves that Caylee’s death was no accident, but planned ahead of time. These examples were not the only evidence brought into court, but they were three of the  most significant portions that should have brought Caylee justice. Everything points to Casey Anthony having murdered her daughter.

For thirty- one days while Caylee Marie Anthony was missing without anyone but her mother being aware, Casey partied with her boyfriends, received a tattoo, and did not appear to have any worries. For thirty- one days, while Caylee was rotting in Casey’s trunk, Casey went to clubs, parties and friends’ households to become intoxicated. In late 2008, pictures surfaced of Casey taking shots in bikinis while smoking cigars. Also, she repeatedly participated in costume contests located at clubs and bars. In mid June 2008, according to “Casey Anthony Trial: Ex-Boyfriend, Friends, Neighbor who Loaned Shovel Testify” by Anthony Colarossi, Casey Anthony’s former boyfriend Anthony Lazzaro testified against Anthony. In his testimony, Lazzaro stated that “Anthony as an outgoing young person who enjoyed partying and took part in a "hot-body contest" at Fusion nightclub June 20, several days later” (par. 3).

On July 2nd, 2008 Anthony was given a tattoo by a dear friend, Bobby Williams. This tattoo said “Bella Vita” or “Beautiful Life” in Italian. Bobby then later testified about Anthony’s attitude when she entered the shop, “seemed happy when she came into the shop” (par. 3). Caylee was not with Casey at the time, but was supposed to be with her mother on July 19th, for her next tattoo. Caylee was not with Casey then either. Casey did not appear worried about one thing, and if she was she drank her problems away at wild parties, receiving tattoos, and dancing on poles for fun. These are not the actions of a concerned mother who is worried for the safety or whereabouts of her young child.  They are also not the actions of a mother who is grieving after the accidental death of her child.  There is a saying that actions speak louder than words. Casey Anthony’s actions speaking more loudly perhaps than any other evidence, point to her being a cold blooded killer.
Casey Anthony never once mentioned how her two year old went missing from her home. The essential question of the whole investigation is, if Casey was innocent why did she not report Caylee missing? It is safe to say that any mother who had not seen her child for more than twenty-four hours would have been frantic. Casey was not.  Anthony’s lack of concern for Casey along with the strong forensic evidence presented in court leave myself and many others to believe that Anthony is guilty of murder.  In March of 2013, I surveyed a total of 72 people, and of those 72 people 60%  agreed that Casey Anthony was wrongly acquitted of all charges, and she did, in fact murder her child. Another question I had asked participants was “Do you believe that Casey Anthony should be permitted to have more children after her unspeakable crimes? Why or why not?” and society’s answer did not shock me. More than half of the survey takers answered with statements like "No, because she will kill another child of hers again", "No, it will just happen one more time and she will be able to get away again", and "she clearly killed her own child." These statments showed me that I am not the only one who believes, Casey Anthony is a cold hearted murderer.
Casey Anthony murdered her three year old daughter in 2008, and she should be guilty. Anyone can see that she had everything to do with her child's dissapearence, her dead body, and her lack of being loved. Casey Anthony should have been found GUILTY of 1st degree murder, and she should of not of gotten away with it. Rest in peace Caylee Marie Anthony, forever smiling.

Narriative Poem About Caylee And Casey

A Child Lost and a Mother at Cost
A Poem By Kayla Jessop

A mother and daughter
A love like no other
Or was it false?
What was the cause?
Is a pure innocent child at fault?
Or was a monstrous mom not yet caught?

Death came on a bright afternoon
Planned by a mom before her daughter’s snooze
Mommy, mommy! I want to go for a swim!
Could this be a mom’s perfect win?
While Caylee was drying off
Casey went off

While Caylee’s body was out rotting
Casey was out partying
Thirty one days go by
With no Caylee around to cry
Casey meets plenty of guys
But they don’t know she’s a monster in disguise

Thirty one days go by
With no Caylee around to cry
Grandma Cindy gets worried
And calls the police in a scurry
Casey says Caylee is with the nanny
An unkown nanny named Zanny

A search of Caylee
That happened daily
A community comes together
No matter the weather
Families, friends and teachers
Police, firemen and preachers

When it came time for court
Casey Anthony had no support
The prosecutor said “First Degree Murder”
But Casey wanted them to investigate further
A smiling Casey goes back to her cell
Without a set bail

On July 5th, 2011
America found that a little girl went to Heaven
Bones found not so far from a road
A community mourns over this tiny load
A deteriorated Caylee found in a bag
In the eyes of her mother not even worth being covered in a rag

Another court date
What could be Casey’s fate?
The whole nation started to complain
The anger could not be constrained
A murderer set free
There wasn’t enough evidence, how could that be?

Rest in peace Caylee Marie
Forever a child flying high and free
You could never be forgotten
Our nation hopes you’re lying on clouds of cotton
We held you in our hearts and arms
Rest in peace without any fear of harm

Nancy Grace comments on Casey's Verdict

Nancy grace states "Devil is dancing tonight", which means Casey will be partying due to the fact she got away with murdering her young child.

Casey Anthony:Good Mom or Baby Killer?

Casey Anthony: Good Mom or Baby Killer?
Ever since I was at the young age of three years old, I had always wanted to be a mother.
I grew up taking care of my four younger sisters, so I had the mother’s instinct and I was already
a “mother” in my heart. When I was a little girl, I remember taking my baby dolls and pretending
like they were real children. I would wrap them up in blankets, carry them everywhere, feed
them real food, cradle, love and nurture them like any mother would.  There was never a place
my “babies” would not go with me wherever I went, so did my “children”. My mother used to be
so frustrated with me, because those baby dolls were the only items I would ever play around
with. Having a child or many has always been what I am looking very forward to when I am at
the mature age. I could not imagine spending one day not having my son or daughter around,
when I am older, of course. Let alone being the reason why, like I believe Casey Anthony was
with her daughter. I personally believe Casey Anthony murdered her young daughter, and was let
out of jail on a free card. Like many others there is not a doubt in my mind that she did in fact
murder her young child, simply because she did not want to have the responsibility of having
someone to look after.

In trying to discover dependable research for my beliefs Casey Anthony was wrongly
acquitted, and did in fact murder or child, I came across many articles. I came across an article
on Investigation Discovery.com, “Criminal Report Daily: Casey Anthony Trial Case”. I know
this Article is credible because the investigators on this case cited their work and had
professional interviews from them located in this article. In this article, I looked at evidence
found in the trial of Casey Anthony V.S. Florida State. This trial is about a mom Casey Anthony Kayla
being charged with the murder of her three year old toddler Caylee Anthony. Casey was found
not guilty by “lack of evidence”. I believe this is incorrect, and she was guilty. The article I
found informed me more on the evidence found within the case that supports my reasoning of
belief. For instance, “Instead of looking for her daughter, Casey partied with friends, got tattoos,
lied to the police and had no cares in the world for 31 days.” This quote should help readers and
mothers think about her verdict. What kind of mother is able to go out and party, let alone
function correctly, while their child is missing? If Casey Anthony was in fact not guilty, she
would have done anything in her power to look and find her child. Instead, she enjoyed the thirty
one days of her child free life.

The Casey Anthony V.S the state of Florida trial has always intrigued me and caught my
attention. Due to the fact I have always wanted to be a mother and children are very important to
me, this case sickens me. I would like to further my research in this project for many reasons.
For instance, not only do I want to further my research because I love children, but because
people should open their eyes to see everything is not as it seems. Also, this case was not ancient
it was very recent and could happen to anyone’s child in anyone’s neighborhood. Parents and
guardians should worry about what is going on in their neighborhood, because everyone should
feel safe in their environment instead of concerned. Not only do I believe this case to be very
intriguing, but it kept America wanting to know more about the mysterious death of a young and
innocent child. Casey Anthony lied about many situations referring to her daughter going
missing; America was waiting to see what actually happened. I believe Casey Anthony was
wrongly convicted, and should have been found guilty. I believe this for as many reasons as any
other mother would. Casey gave false information referring to her daughter, never mentioned or Kayla
tried to look for Caylee. Nor did she care about the fact her daughter was no longer around. My
question I would like to know is “was Casey Anthony a mom or a cold hearted murderer?”

A worried mother? Try a partying mother.

Do these look like a mother being worried and depressed about her daughter missing? I think not.

Research Memo Following Survey Results

Hypothesis:
My purpose of this survey about Casey Anthony V.S Florida state trial was to see how the population though about the trial and the verdict. This survey was based strictly on opinionated responses, and I have come to realize many people share the same opinions on the trial. For instance, I had asked in my survey “Do you agree that Casey Anthony was wrongly acquitted of all charges against her in did in fact have something to do with the murder of her young child?”. I personally believe that Casey Anthony was wrongly acquitted of the charges proposed against her. Due to prior research of my topic, I also believe many people will agree with me. Another question that was asked in my survey was “If you had the opportunity to be in the jury for this trial, what would your verdict be?”.  As already stated before, I am a firm believer Casey murdered her young daughter. Therefore, I would have voted her guilty because of the evidence produced against her. Once again, I believe many people agree with me on this subject and questionnaire.

Context:
My target audience for my research was parents from the ages of 16 and up. This was my age group because parents would have more emotion towards a case about a child being murdered rather than a person who does not have children. Using fathers and mothers as my audience would put more of an emotional pull on the results of my survey. During my pilot testing I realized I should have used more of a direct question approach and maybe even more emotional questions on the Casey Anthony trial results. The results I received are reliable because it comes from someone’s opinion rather than actual facts. My results on my survey were not statistic, they were opinion based and many people have different views on the case. As a researcher I believe my questions were skewed because on the opinion my respondent could or would have had.

Data/Analysis:
Demographic
Trend
Meaning
Caucasian                           11
Hispanic                              0
African American              3
Other                                   2
98% of people said yes
3% said no
Question: Are you aware of the Casey Anthony V.S the state of Florida trial?
My goal for this question was to get a feel of how many people actually knew any details of the case or knew about the case at all.
16 people.           40%
6 people.             15%
2 people.             5%
3 people.             8%
13 people.           33%
40% of people had children between the ages of 0-1.
15% of people had children between the ages of 2 and 3.
5% of people had children between the ages of 4 and 5.
8% of people had children between the ages of 5+.
None                    13           33%
Question: What is the age of your child? Please choose one.
I had asked this question to see how many of my respondents did or do not have children. The reason for this was to say, once again, the emotional impact on their opinion. If you are a parent, typically you would be more influenced and involved by harmed children cases like Casey Anthony V.S Florida State.
Caucasian                           11
Hispanic                              0
African American              3
Other                                   2
Agree         60%
Disagree    19%
Not sure    21%
Question: Do you agree that Casey Anthony was wrongly acquitted of all charges against her in did in fact have something to do with the murder of her young child?
When I had asked this question I used a more direct approach to get the answer I had wanted. I interpreted my personal opinion on the matter so I can manipulate the results of my survey that agreed with my opinion. I was hoping respondents would see my side of the story, rather than a more unbiased question.

Conclusion:
My surveys helped me in my research by allowing me to get an understanding and look at how people feel about this trial. With knowing what my respondents feel and/or react to my questionnaire I can have a better knowledge of what topic I should research more referring to this case. Referring back to my hypothesis of how I believe Casey Anthony did in fact murder her child and respondents of my survey would agree, my hypothesis was proven to be correct. Sixty percent of people who took my survey believed she did have something to do with Caylee’s death. Something I did not expect in my survey was that twenty percent of respondents believed Caylee received all of the justice she could get in the not guilty verdict of Casey Anthony. When conjuring the question “On a scale of one to five (five being highest), how much justice do you believe Caylee Anthony received in the trial outcome?” I would have thought more to all respondents would agree that she did not receive any justice and would have voted one on the poll. In conclusion, I am very impressed with the results of my survey. I feel this way because majority of the results agreed with my opinion on the trial and the verdict. It is nice to see that other people agree with me too.

Follow Up:
Starting on my secondary research I want to mainly focus on is why more people believe Casey murdered Caylee than not. It intrigues me to know if their opinion is strictly on what their head and heart feels, or if it has to do with the evidence presented against Casey in the trial. A question I would really like to focus on is if the opportunity came around for society to have their chance to put their opinions on the verdict, would it change? My results showed that society would have voted differently if were given the chance, and the outcome would have been guilty. This is something I will really focus on in my next trials of research from the public’s opinion.
